Welcome to Park City, Utah

The historic, charming mountain town of Park City, Utah, lies just 35 miles from Salt Lake International Airport, making its world-famous light, dry powder also some of the most conveniently located in the world. Although Park City's first ski lift was erected in 1964, it wasn't until it staged the men and women’s alpine events in the 2002 Winter Olympics that this world-class ski resort burst onto the international radar. In the past, Park City had been something of a well-kept secret among affluent ski enthusiasts, avid fly fishermen and Hollywood glitterati. Even without the globally televised Olympic airtime, it was only a matter of time before the resort's magical summer season and dazzling array of luxury accommodations, five-star restaurants and rockin' nightclubs would elevate it from an obscure -- albeit ritzy -- ski town, to a year-round vacation mecca.

PARK CITY, UTAH - THE TOWN

Main StreetThe Olympics weren't Park City's first major boom. In the 1870s, Park City went from a remote mountain outpost to a quintessential Western boom town almost overnight -- replete with saloons, brothels and gunfights. Then the mines began to dry up, the Great Depression hit, and Park City languished in obscurity -- just another Wild West ghost town among many. In the 1960s, the United Park City Mines Company injected life back into the town by installing a gondola and chairlifts, and building the lavish Treasure Mountain Resort -- which would eventually become the cornerstone of the modern-day Park City Mountain Resort.
